Battle Of Waterloo
Battle Of Waterloo, Bicentenary A Brief

It was a day that will forever be etched in my memory, the last day of the Battle of Waterloo. The skies were dark, and the air was thick with smoke and the stench of gunpowder. The sound of musket fire and cannon blasts were incessant, and the screams of the wounded and dying filled the air.
I stood there, with my fellow soldiers, weary and exhausted, but determined to fight until the bitter end. We had been fighting for days, with little rest and even less food and water. But we knew that the fate of Europe hung in the balance, and we could not give up.
As the day wore on, the French seemed to gain ground, and we began to fear that all was lost. But then, just when it seemed that all hope was gone, we heard the sound of bugles in the distance. It was the Prussians, arriving to turn the tide of the battle.
With renewed vigour, we fought on, pushing back the French with all our might. It was a fierce and bloody battle, but finally, after hours of fighting, we emerged victorious.
The French were defeated, and the Battle of Waterloo was won. It was a moment of triumph and relief, but also of sadness and loss. So many lives had been lost, so many families torn apart. And yet, we knew that we had fought for a greater cause, for the freedom and independence of Europe.
As I looked out over the battlefield, with the smoke and haze slowly clearing, I knew that this day would be remembered for generations to come. The last day of the Battle of Waterloo, the day when the fate of Europe was decided, and when the courage and sacrifice of so many soldiers, on both sides of the conflict, was honoured and remembered forever.

In the year of 1815, on a field in Belgium,
The British army stood, against the French legion,
Their leader, the Duke of Wellington, with a steadfast eye,
He knew that victory, was a case of do, or die.
The French marched forward, with drums and trumpets loud,
Their cannons roared, their muskets pointed at the crowd,
But the British stood firm, with their bayonets at the ready,
And as the French charged forward, their aim became deadly.
The battle raged on, all day and into the night,
The sounds of death and fury, an unrelenting sight,
The British were resolute, their courage carried them through,
They knew they had to win, and the French they overthrew.
Just when it seemed, the French might take the day,
The Prussians arrived, with their big guns and advancing affray,
Together with the British, their force unbeatable,
Defeated the enemy, in a way that was unrepeatable.
The battle was won, the French overpowered,
Their leader, Napoleon, no longer empowered,
The British had triumphed, against a mighty foe,
Their victory was certain, and courage did overflow.
For the British, it was a success, a moment to remember,
Their bravery and courage, despite much somber,
For they fought with honour, over the battleground,
And in the end, achieved a winning triumphal turnaround.
The tale of Waterloo, some two hundred years ago,
An allied victory, recounted blow by blow,
For the British, Prussians, and Dutch it was a forceful campaign,
With many heroes, left dead on the Belgium terrain.

Here lies the brave, who fought and fell,
At Waterloo, where history did tell,
Of battles fierce, and courage true,
Where heroes fought, both old and new.
Their sacrifice, we shall not forget,
For freedom's cause, they bravely met,
And though they rest, in earth and stone,
Their memory lives, forever known.
So let this obelisk, stand tall and strong,
A tribute to the brave, who fought so long,
And may their legacy, forever be,
A symbol of courage, and liberty.
